Italy is known for its classic take on fashion and enduring respect for handmade quality. What you might not know is that they make some of the best technical eyewear on the planet too. Our design team recently collaborated with a family run maker in Italy to combine all of that into two new OTIS frames that elevate what’s possible for outdoor, active style. Offset and Request answer the call for a fashion meets function renaissance.
WHY ITALIAN MADE?
Subtle differences can have a big impact. There are a handful of technical details the Italians have dialled in that add to overall comfort and performance for sunglasses. Blended with lightweight, highly durable materials and OTIS’s signature mineral glass lenses that are 12x more resistant than regular options, and you get an unstoppable combo of excellence. Here’s a look at some of the features.
Increased pantoscopic tilt
A fancy name that basically means the frames fit even better on your face, while the lenses sit at the perfect angle to allow for increased field of vision and better glare protection. Comfort meets clarity.
A stronger tilt brings the lower part of the lenses closer to your face, allowing better coverage of your downward gaze, which is especially useful when engaging in activities where you need to look down frequently, such as hiking or fishing. This can also help block reflective light entering beneath the frame improving overall eye protection. The fit also sits more naturally to the curve of your face, making them more comfortable and less likely to slide off while moving around.
Seamless side blinders
Our Italian maker has mastered the art of balancing protection that doesn’t look or feel too bulky. The temple blinders on these frames block light and UV rays from entering at the sides, reducing glare and providing better overall eye protection. They also limit peripheral distractions, allowing for clearer vision and improved focus when you’re fishing, hiking or generally doing something adventurous.

Our ultra-durable, lightweight EcoGrilamid materials offer the kind of comfort where you almost forget you’re wearing these kinds of frames (until you take them off and go, oh, wow). Offset and Request take this to the next level again, with integrated rubber nose padding and temple tips.
